Jaap Keuter 81b585cf8e From Valerio Messina:
As now, when Wireshark save capture files, it show "Loading" in status bar and
in the dialog box, warning many users of lost them packets. Saving work as expected.
Is simply a GUI use interaction problem.

Stephen Fisher e6d0686f7b Introduce experimental new feature: GTK2 tree view based packet list
To use the GTK2 based packet list, define NEW_PACKET_LIST when compiling.
To do this with gcc, set the environment variable CPPFLAGS to
"-DNEW_PACKET_LIST" and re-run configure.

Many features do not yet work. This work began with prototypes by Ulf
quite a while back. I've put quite a bit of work into this so far and
as discussed with a few of the core team members at Sharkfest09 and it was
decided that it would be best to commit what I have so far to allow others to
help work on this.

Guy Harris 432cac16f3 "main_menu.[ch]" -> "menus.[ch]"; it handles not only the main menu, but
context menus.

Note why we have an empty hex dump pane context menu.

Guy Harris a9ffacc1b3 Only include gtk/capture_globals.h if we're building with capture
support.

svn path=/trunk/; revision=25575

Guy Harris f441b8941e Add gtk/capture_globals.h, to declare global_capture_opts, so files that
don't need global_capture_opts don't need to have it declared and thus
don't need capture_options defined.

Include gtk/capture_globals in the files in question.

Change some more capture_opts references to refer to
global_capture_opts.

Change some global_capture_opts references in routines with a
capture_opts argument to refer to capture_opts.

The structure type is capture_options, not capture_opts; fix some
references.

Include <sys/types.h>, if it's present, in capture_opts.h, so we get
gid_t defined.

Clean up indentation.

Gerald Combs 92802883a6 Change the "--enable-setuid-install" option to install dumpcap and TShark
setuid instead of Wireshark. Remove the "DANGEROUS" notices, but leave it
disabled by default. Whine if the user runs Wireshark or TShark as root.
Add a preference to disable the whining. Add a "setuid-root" script that
can be used to switch dumpcap and TShark's setuid-ness on and off for
development and testing. Update the release notes and README.packaging.

Guy Harris 0ce9a23b25 Most of the stuff in file_dlg.c is specific to capture files, so rename
it to capture_file_dlg.c, and rename its header file. We might want to
move the generic file dialog stuff to a file_dlg.c file (it's currently
in dlg_utils.c), and move the non-capture-file dialog stuff in
capture_file_dlg.c to another file.

Ulf Lamping c3187174bf replace *a lot* of file related calls by their GLib counterparts. This is necessary for the switch to GTK 2.6 (at least on WIN32).
to do this, I've added file_util.h to wiretap (would file_compat.h be a better name?), and provide compat_macros like eth_open() instead of open(). While at it, move other file related things there, like #include <io.h>, definition of O_BINARY and alike, so it's all in one place.

deleted related things from config.h.win32

As of these massive changes, I'm almost certain that this will break the Unix build. I'll keep an eye on the buildbot so hopefully everything is working again soon.

Ulf Lamping 39b2f7c4d9 two bugfixes:
- don't use GtkSelectionData after returned to GTK, as it might free this data immediately (copy the data instead and free it after usage)
- fix return value handling for DnD merge, so it will work again

Guy Harris bcc201cd88 If we have libpcap, include <pcap.h>, because "capture.h" requires it.
If we *don't* have libpcap, don't include "capture.h", and don't test
whether a capture is in progress.

Clean up a message.

Guy Harris 9105b04e4b Have "cf_merge_files()" take a pointer-to-pointer-to-char as the output
file name argument; if the pointed-to pointer is null, it opens a
temporary file, and sets that pointer to a mallocated copy of the
pathname of the temporary file. It no longer needs a file descriptor as
an argument.

Guy Harris ea7ef54b0d Have "cf_merge_files()" always close "out_fd" before returning; it does
so if "wtap_dump_fdopen()" succeeds (as a side-effect of calling
"wtap_dump_close()"), even if "cf_merge_fails()" after that, so it
should do so if it fails.

That means we don't need to close it in the callers of "cf_merge_files()".

split drag and drop support out of main.c into new file drag_and_drop.c, to reduce the size of main.c a bit.
