Calling cmake with -DENABLE_VLD=ON when building with Visual Studio,
results in debug configuration being linked to Visual Leak Detector.
By default, Visual Leak Detector outputs the leak summary to Visual
Studio debug window. When ENABLE_VLD is active, VLD is linked to all
wireshark libraries and executables.
Modularized the parser backend slightly to have the needed hooks
Modified the timestamp format slightly to enable arbitrary postion for
second fractions
Added a regex based seeking parser for textfiles as frontend alternative
to text_import_scanner.l
Regex is using the GLib implementation
Supported frame-data formats are bin, hex, oct and base64
Regex based importing UI
Fixed Meory-leak in ImportTextDialog::exec()
A new tab was added to the text_import ui to accomodate the new fields
Hints are available and styled accordingly

This is more explicit and easier to read with slightly better locality
while using less code.
Also less awkward when the package doesn't fit the narrow package list
expectations.
The ws_find_package() macro doesn't include all the status messages. The
choice was to rely on standard find_package() and feature_summary() output
and be less verbose.
Avoid polluting the CLI build interface. Per target include paths and
macro definitions are preferred.
Because this patch intentionally removes the global CMAKE_*_FLAGS
and include_directories() usage in favor of target properties, some
untested build configurations may inadvertently break because of
missing ${PACKAGE}_INCLUDE_DIRS or ${PACKAGE}_DEFINITIONS. This
required a manual review of dependencies that might have been
incomplete.
${PACKAGE_VAR}_LINK_FLAGS seems to be unused.
Changing the CMake Qt code to use more modern CMake component syntax
is left as future work.

cmdarg_err() is for reporting errors for command-line programs and
command-line errors in GUI programs; it's not something for any of the
Wireshark libraries to use.
The various routines for parsing numerical command-line arguments are
not for general use, they're just for use when parsing arguments.

When built with -DCMAKE_BUILD_WITH_INSTALL_RPATH=1, make-taps and
make-dissectors fail to run because they cannot locate libwsutil.so.0.
Since v2.9.0rc0-178-gbb81bef535 ("glib: Get rid of GLIB_CHECK_VERSION as
we now require 2.32.0") wsutil is definitely no longer needed.

Except for the one directory that (currently) has "not yet clean" files,
epan/dissectors, we don't need a separate variable to keep track of the
"clean" source files.
In the cases where not all files were in CLEAN_FILES, put them into the
variable used to enable -Werror or its equivalent.

Add a "FileInstall.cmake" module that installs files and directories.
Use it to install the chunked HTML guides.
Install the guides into CMAKE_INSTALL_FULL_DOCDIR. By default this is
/usr/local/share/doc/Wireshark. Define DOC_DIR to match.
Add explicit file and directory permissions to the default install
targets.
Remove the PDF install target.

CentOS 6 ships with glib 2.28.8 which do not support
g_ptr_array_new_full (make-taps/make-dissectors) and need to link with
wsutil for glib-compat.
g_thread_new was only introduced with GLib 2.32 (not 2.31), so adjust
the check accordingly. Abort in case thread creation fails (as
documented). Properly initialize threads or it will abort on runtime
(this also requires linking epan with gthreads in CMake, autotools
already includes it with GLIB_LIBS).

This allows the user to acces the appropriate help built for their

Autotools has the very useful feature by design of allowing the user
to override the default build flags (you break it you keep it).
Apparently CMake applies COMPILE_OPTIONS target property after
CMAKE_{C,CXX}_FLAGS so that doesn't work here. Prepend our flags to those
variables instead to make it work then.
Specific target flag overrides can still be added with COMPILER_OPTIONS
(e.g: generated files with -Wno-warning) but this is less effective and
then we're back at the point where this overrides user flags. It's less
of a concern though.

Since dissectors are now populating the timestamp of the seq_analysis_item_t
structure within the tap function, don't have the sequence_anaylsis redo it
when writing an ASCII file. This removes the need for the capture_file
parameter and simplifies the logic a bit.
Also just have GUI register the tap itself. It will provide for some more
flexibility in the future.

An extcap utility can provide configuration for controls to use in a
GUI interface toolbar. This controls are bidirectional and can be
used to control the extcap utility while capturing.
This is useful in scenarios where configuration can be done based on
findings in the capture process, setting temporary values or give other
inputs without restarting current capture.

Packet ranges are used only in the UI; move the packet range stuff into
libui.
Don't pass a print_args_t structure to libwireshark packet-printing
routines, just pass the few parameters they need. Move the declaration
of print_args_t into file.h.

A new "--export-object <protocol>,<destdir>" option is added to tshark.
This required refactoring Export Object behavior in all GUIs to give the
export object handling to the dissector, rather than the ui layer.
Included in the refactoring was fixing some serious memory leaks in Qt
Export Object dialog, crash due to memory scope issues in GTK Export
Object dialog, and addition sorting column feature in Qt dialog (set
up by creating a widget to manage the items that were previously
leaking memory)

Instead of checking for the boolean "FALSE", just set an empty string.
This avoids the need to check for WERROR_COMMON_FLAGS before using it.
The transformation is the same for all files, remove
"if (WERROR_COMMON_FLAGS)" and "endif()", reindent and add quotes (since
we have a string here and not a list).
Modelines have been added where missing.

Setting our compiler warning flags in CMAKE_C_FLAGS does not allow
using different flags per target.
Allow for that possibility by setting the internal WS_WARNINGS_{C,CXX}_FLAGS
and using the COMPILE_OPTIONS property to set them.
This change is just setting mechanism and there should be no difference
in generated warnings.
The check_X_compiler_flag cmake test is changed to test each flag individually.
We need a list, not a space separated string, and the aggregate test is not
significant.

Add the Firewall ACL Rules dialog. Try showing all valid rules for a
given product instead of making the user select from a combobox. We can
add the combo back easily enough if that's desired.
Add a rule hint field and use it in the Qt and GTK+ UIs.

This patch introduces the "-U tap_name[,filter]" tshark option and
is similar to the "Export PDUs as file" option in Wireshark.
Wireshark implements this feature by reopening a capture file, applying
a tap and finally opening the temporary file. Since tshark knows
in advance that a PDU export is needed, it can optimize by not creating
the temporary file and perform the export at the first opportunity.
This patch splits the opening/tapping functionality from error reporting
since tshark does not need a temp file and has no dialogs.
The capture file comment is now specified explicitly as there is no
"current file" anymore if the tap is running without active file.
TODO:
- Review whether it is acceptable to overwrite save_file in tshark.
- Add documentation (tshark manpage).

Add ServiceResponseTimeDialog as a subclass of TapParameterDialog,
similar to StatsTreeDialog. Add initial plumbing for statistics menu
items and command line invocation.

- get language as soon as possible (before creating any Qt objects) to make all
translations working
- dynamic list of supported languages
- runtime change of GUI language (no need to restart application)
- add flags icons support
- search for *.qm languages in buildin resources, then
data dir called "languages" (main directory in sources or
/usr/share/wireshark/languages), then user directory
(UNIX: ~/.wireshark/languages); "languages" directory should contains
files wireshark_xx.qm where xx is language code (en, en_GB, etc.),
and optional xx.svg for flag icon
- try to fix some untranslated manually-created UI items
(need manual reset text of those components)

Create a TrafficTableDialog (for lack of a better name) parent class
from the general parts of ConversationDialog. Use it to create
EndpointsDialog.
Move the contents of conversation_tree_widget.{cpp,h} to
conversation_dialog.{cpp,h} to match endpoint_dialog and
traffic_table_dialog.
Fill in GeoIP columns dynamically instead of using a hard-coded limit.
Use "endp_" and "ENDP_" prefixes for a lot of endpoint variables and
defines.
Try to make geoip_db_lookup_ipv4 and geoip_db_lookup_ipv6 more robust.
Clean up some includes. Fix a shadowed variable.

Refactor (non-GUI) conversation table functionality from gtk/Qt to epan. Also refactor "common GUI" conversation table functionality.
The idea is to not have to modify the GUI when a dissector adds a new "conversation type"
