Remove the editor modeline blocks from most of the source files in ui/qt
by running
perl -i -p0e 's{ \n+ /[ *\n]+ editor \s+ modelines .* shiftwidth= .* \*/ \s+ } {\n}gsix' $( ag -g '\.(cpp|h)' )
then cleaning up the remaining files by hand.
This *shouldn't* affect anyone since
- All of the source files in ui/qt use 4 space indentation, which
matches the default in our top-level .editorconfig
- The one notable editor that's likely to be used on these files and
*doesn't* support EditorConfig (Qt Creator) defaults to 4 space
indentation.
The patch reintroduces WiresharkDialog::captureFileClosed() method and
calls captureFileClosing() and captureFileClosed() in right order.
Both methods call updateWidgets() at its end.
All dialogs were reviewed and captureFileClosing/Closed methods updated
when appropriate.
captureEvent() method in multiple dialogs changed to captureFileClosing/Closed
as it does same actions - looks like old style of detecting of capture
file closing.
When the user opens the conversation dialog, selects a tcp conversation and
presses the Graph button, the ConversationDialog kicks off these two actions
1.) apply a display filter "tcp.stream eq X" (where X is the number of the stream)
2.) open the tcp stream graph
Both actions are asynchronous and, at least on my machines, the graph is opened
before the filter is applied. The graph requires that the current packet be
part of the selected tcp conversation. If it's not (because the filter isn't
applied yet), we get the "Selected packet isn't a TCP segment or is truncated"
error message and the graph is not shown.
Fix this by enforcing the correct order for the two actions. MainWindow sends
the displayFilterSuccess signal when a display filter was applied. Listen to this
signal in ConversationDialog and launch the tcp graph when the filter was
applied successfully.

tcp.stream and udp.stream are already unsigned identifiers. An upcoming
http2.hashed_stream identifier can exercise the full unsigned 32-bit
number space, so be sure not to treat the stream identifier as signed
integer.

If no stream is given to FollowStreamDialog::follow(), then it
overwrites the display filter with a conversation filter for the first
packet in the capture file.
Pass an explicit stream number and the "Follow stream" button will set a
correct display filter.
Test: open pcap with three TCP streams. Statistics -> Conversations.
Select last TCP conversation (expect "tcp.stream eq 2"). Select the
second conversation (expect "tcp.stream eq 1") and activate "Filter Out"
button (expect "!(tcp.stream eq 1)" and not "!(tcp.stream eq 2) and
!(tcp.stream eq 1)").

times. Use the local time for now. Fixes bug 11618.

Add a timeline indicator to the Start and Duration columns in the
Conversations dialog. Add tooltips to the columns that explain what's
going on.
Round the timeline rect corners and do the same for Prototocol Hierarchy
Statistics. This should hopefully differentiate the graph bars from a
text selection and IMHO it looks better.
Update the PHS and Conversations images in the User's Guide.

Generate column text dynamically. This keeps us from having to iterate
over our tree items each time we receive updates.
Set the uniformRowHeights property.
Stop automatically resizing columns after 200 items.
Fixup name resolution behavior. Disable the checkbox if host name
resolution is disabled.

Many of our dialogs can send an "apply this display filter" signal to
the main window. Applying a display filter in turn creates a nested
event loop via cf_read+update_progress_dlg. If the "apply" signal+slot
is directly connected (which is the default, and which means we're
calling into a function table) we can close the dialog while the signal
is firing, which means we return into a deleted object.
Make all of the filterAction signals+slots queued instead of direct.

dialog do, so leave it up to the parent class.

Add WiresharkDialog, a common base class for dialogs centered around
capture files. Make it a parent of Capture File Properties, Traffic
Table, Conversations, and Endpoints.
Rename CaptureFile::read_only_ to file_closed_. Add methods to
WiresharkApplication for generating consistent window titles.

Add isValid, fileTitle, and retapPackets methods to CaptureFile. Add
application name and title separator convenience methods to
WiresharkApplication.
Convert traffic tables, conversations, and endpoints to use CaptureFile
directly and to let the user know when the capture file is closed. Set
the file dialog titles while we're here.

Move the map creation code from ui/gtk/hostlist_table.c to
ui/traffic_table_ui.c.
Add CMake commands to copy ipmap.html to the run directory so that
WIRESHARK_RUN_FROM_BUILD_DIRECTORY works for the endpoint map. Not sure
if they're entirely correct but they appear to work.
Add boundary checkes to geoip_db_lookup_ipv[46].
To do:
- It looks like there are prettier maps and newer APIs that we
might want to use.

Create a TrafficTableDialog (for lack of a better name) parent class
from the general parts of ConversationDialog. Use it to create
EndpointsDialog.
Move the contents of conversation_tree_widget.{cpp,h} to
conversation_dialog.{cpp,h} to match endpoint_dialog and
traffic_table_dialog.
Fill in GeoIP columns dynamically instead of using a hard-coded limit.
Use "endp_" and "ENDP_" prefixes for a lot of endpoint variables and
defines.
Try to make geoip_db_lookup_ipv4 and geoip_db_lookup_ipv6 more robust.
Clean up some includes. Fix a shadowed variable.

Move common conversation code to ui/conversation_hash.[ch]. Add a
conversation_type_e enum along with convenience functions for fetching
titles, tap names, etc.
We have a single main dialog instead of a main dialog + individual
protocol dialogs. It de-clutters the statistics menu and results in
simpler code. Conversation type tabs can be added and removed within the
dialog itself. The tab list is sticky and saved with the current profile
when the dialog closes. Data can be copied as CSV or YAML.
Add a FilterAction class and a corresponding filterAction slot to
MainWindow. Use it for the Conversations context menu.
Add an addressResolutionChanged signal and related plumbing.
Get rid of the iterator members in the conversation item struct. Update
the GTK+ code accordingly.
Excercise for the reader:
- Update TShark to use the common hash code.
