Display it as a pathname in the native format (e.g., C:\this\is\wrong),
not as the path component of the URL supplied (e.g., /C/this/is/wrong).
Fixes some confusion that appeared in a comment in #15592 (but not the
underlying bug - fixing that bug should prevent that dialog from popping
up in the first place).
As the QString::toLocal8Bit() documentation says,
"On Unix systems this is equivalen to toUtf8(), on Windows the systems
current code page is being used."
This is problematic for the Packet Comments dialog, since the comments
need to be UTF-8 as per the pcapng specification. Use toUtf8() instead
there and in the Import Text dialog.
Remove the toLocal8Bit() calls from the Extcap Options dialog since they
weren'nt needed.
Blind attempt at fixing #18698.
Move WiresharkApplication.{cpp,h} to MainApplication.{cpp,h}. Add back
WiresharkApplication as a thin superclass of MainApplication, similar to
LogsharkApplication. Change all of our wsApp references to mainApp. We
will likely have to change many or most of them back, but that's a
commit for another time.
Qt 5.10 added qsizetype, aka an ssize_t and Qt 6 makes extensive use of
it. Add a compatibility typedef and use it where we can. Cast it away
where we can't.
Remove the editor modeline blocks from most of the source files in ui/qt
by running
perl -i -p0e 's{ \n+ /[ *\n]+ editor \s+ modelines .* shiftwidth= .* \*/ \s+ } {\n}gsix' $( ag -g '\.(cpp|h)' )
then cleaning up the remaining files by hand.
This *shouldn't* affect anyone since
- All of the source files in ui/qt use 4 space indentation, which
matches the default in our top-level .editorconfig
- The one notable editor that's likely to be used on these files and
*doesn't* support EditorConfig (Qt Creator) defaults to 4 space
indentation.
Remove randomly used space inside parentheses to make the coding
style uniform. Add space after if, for and while.

with modern compilers "old-style cast"
Adding a warning for g_list_next and data access to avoid the warning

When extcap is started for capture, the argument call is appended to extcap
commandline if the associated value is not empty or the argument is boolflag.
Unfortunately such rule did not apply when constructing the arguments list
for selector reload action. This could lead to extcap being called with
the argument calls without required values (eg. multicheck, selector, string).
This change makes the --extcap-reload-option selector to not contain argument
calls for which the value is not available.

Before this change extcap parameters without value would be silently
changed into a single space on parameters load.
This could lead to not only passing unexpected values to extcap call
arguments but also "auto-fill" text values without user consent.
Example scenario to observe this problem using extcap_example.py was:
1. Open "Example interface 1 for extcap" configuration
2. Click Restore Defaults
3. Enter message, so the capture can be started
4. Make sure "Save parameter on capture start" is enabled
5. Start capture
6. Notice that capture starts normally and extcap arguments are ok
7. Stop capture
8. Start capture again
9. Notice that parameters were reloaded and the extcap was called with
following unwanted arguments:
--logfile " " --radio " " --multi " "

For extcap boolean flags inserted into arguments hash table, the key should
be the "call" option and value should be NULL.
extcap_add_arg_and_remove_cb() takes care of NULL values by simply
omitting them from generated argument list.
ws_pipe_spawn_async() appends arguments until either:
* argument string is NULL
* argument string points directly to NULL terminator (empty string)
This bug resulted in extcap arguments being "cut off" after the first
"boolflag" present in the commandline arugments. Because arugments hash
table is unordered the actual commandline passed to extcap depended on
the order in which options were changed in extcap configuration dialog.

path() incorrectly gives paths as /C:/Program Files/Wireshark/udpdump.html
under windows. The leading slash gives a wrong test on the file. Instead
toLocalFile() handles it correctly. isLocalFile() has been used to get if
we have a local file or a network URL. The reported bug occurred under Windows
only, but the change is compatible with Linux paths as well.
Accidentally when the test on the file was successful, nothing got called.
The routine has been reworked to open an existing local file.

Group arguments together to better present them, as well as to
have the possibility to better facilitate settings categories.
The order of tabs is defined by the numbering of arguments and
their appearance. If no tab can be found or no group has been
defined for the argument, a default tab will be added.

Allow certaing elements to be reloaded upon request. The way
this works is, certain elements can be configured to be reloadable.
By doing so, the extcap is asked once more just for the values
list of this item, together with all already set options, and
reloads the available options depending on the response.
Only supported for selector. Radio and Multiselect will need
additional patches, also moving those parts outside of extcap_argument.cpp
might make sense before hand.

Since g583150198b, extcap_arg structures holds a pointer to the current
preference value. So let's not update its value outside of the prefs API
otherwise the call to prefs_set_string_value() with pref_current done
afterwards will never notify the change and the updated value will not
be written in the preference file.
Moreover update ExtcapArgument::resetValue() method to have an empty
string instead of a NULL pointer. Otherwise prefs_set_string_value()
will not notify the change and save the restored default value in the
preference file either.

Change access of all_ifaces elements from by val to by reference.
With this change unnecessary copying of the whole struct is avoided
but even more important is that elements no longer have to be
removed and inserted whenever data is updated.
This change aims to make it more clear that all_ifaces elements
shall never be removed from the array without freeing resources
via the capture_opts_free_interface_t function.

The return value from QString::compare() is equal to zero when the
strings are equal. Fix the code for checking and opening the extcap
help URL if not matching "file".

Qt4's QFileInfo::exist() can only be used with an existing QFileInfo
object. The version that accepts the file name as paramter was
introduced in Qt5.
Create a temporary QFileInfo object and call exists() on this object.

Valgrind reports plenty of misc memory leaks in extcap after the network
interface list has changed or is refreshed. Errors can be seen by
starting Wireshark with Valgrind's memcheck tool and bringing a network
interface up and down a few times with:
ifconfig eth0 up
ifconfig eth0 down

Allow the tool to provide a link to a helppage, displayed
by clicking on help in the configuration dialog.
The URL will be opened using an URL based service, therefore local
as well as remote URLs are possible.

Preferences are only allowed to contain lowercase ASCII letters,
numbers, underscores or dot characters. Create a utility function
to convert an extcap setting to its equivalent preference key and
use it wherever conversion from setting to preference key is needed.

This patch creates the functionality of saving all parameters
for extcap devices in the general preference section.
For now, multiselect and fileselect do not save their values
but patches for this will be provided in the future
Also, all preferences are stored as strings to make handling
easier. This might change in the future, but for the first version
it will stick.
Restore to Defaults is not implemented as of yet, and will be
in a future version, once the preference storing is finalized

Cleanup handling of complex data types and use only
glib defined datatypes while handling argument values.
Add a save parameter, which (additionally) can set, that
a parameter is not saved in a configuration file. Passwords
are by default not saved, which may be overwritten using
this parameter

Regular expressions follow the Qt Regex syntax, which is
formulated after the Perl Regex syntax. A more detailed
overview of the possible rules can be found at:

If a required option is present, even the double-click on
the interface will first start the options dialog (Qt only)
Required fields are marked bold and put first in the dialog.
Additionally if validation failes (which it will if a required
field is kept empty, but also if a non-required textfield is
violating the defined regex), the label of the field is marked
with red.

An option may now use the "required=true" argument (see sshdump.c)
which will ensure, that the capture can only be started via the
dialog, if the option has been provided. To ensure, that this is
working properly, multiselect has been moved to a separate source
file.
Renamed one method so it may not interfere with a future save
functionality, and cleaned up the interface to use only default
buttons and roles
ONLY the Qt interface is being supported.
