The buffers are now in the tty_port structure and we can start
teaching the buffer helpers (insert char/string, flip etc.) to use

For that purpose we have to temporarily introduce a second tty back
pointer into tty_port. It is because serial layer, and maybe others,
still do not use tty_port_tty_set/get. So that we cannot set the
tty_port->tty to NULL at will now.
Yes, the fix would be to convert whole serial layer and all its users
to tty_port_tty_set/get. However we are in the process of removing the
need of tty in most of the call sites, so this would lead to a
duplicated work.
Instead we have now tty_port->itty (internal tty) which will be used
only in flush_to_ldisc. For that one it is ensured that itty is valid
wherever the work is run. IOW, the work is synchronously cancelled
before we set itty to NULL and also before hangup is processed.
After we need only tty_port and not tty_struct in most code, this
shall be changed to tty_port_tty_set/get and itty removed completely.

They are only TTY buffers specific. And the buffers will go to

The goal is to stop setting and using tty->driver_data in devpts code.
It should be used solely by the driver's code, pty in this case.
Now driver_data are managed only in the pty driver. devpts_pty_new is
switched to accept what we used to dig out of tty_struct, i.e. device
node number and index.
This also removes a note about driver_data being set outside of the
driver.

The goal is to stop setting and using tty->driver_data in devpts code.
It should be used solely by the driver's code, pty in this case.
For the cleanup of layering, we will need the inode created in
devpts_pty_new to be stored into slave's driver_data. So we convert
devpts_pty_new to return the inode or an ERR_PTR-encoded error in case
of failure.
The move of 'inode = new_inode(sb);' from declarators to the code is
only cosmetical, but it makes the code easier to read.

devpts_get_priv. Note we do not remove type safety, we just shift the

Make uapi/asm-generic/kvm_para.h non-empty by addition of a comment to stop
the patch program from deleting it when it creates it.
Then delete empty arch-specific uapi/asm/kvm_para.h files and tell the Kbuild
files to use the generic instead.
Should this perhaps instead be a #warning or #error that the facility is
unsupported on this arch?

Remove non-UAPI Kbuild files that have become empty as a result of UAPI
disintegration. They used to have only header-y lines in them and those have
now moved to the Kbuild files in the corresponding uapi/ directories.
Possibly these should not be removed but rather have a comment inserted to say
they are intentionally left blank. This would make it easier to add generated
header lines in future without having to restore the infrastructure.
Note that at this point not all the UAPI disintegration parts have been merged,
so it is likely that more empty Kbuild files will turn up.
It is probably necessary to make the files non-empty to prevent the patch
program from automatically deleting them when it reduces them to nothing.

uapi/linux/irqnr.h was emitted by the UAPI disintegration script as an empty
file because the parent linux/irqnr.h had no UAPI stuff in it, despite being
marked with "header-y".
Unfortunately, the patch program deletes the empty file when applying a kernel
patch.
It's not clear why this file is part of the UAPI at all. Looking in:
/usr/include/linux/irqnr.h
there's nothing there but a header reinclusion guard and a comment.
So just stick a comment in there as a placeholder.
Without this, if the kernel is fabricated from, say, a tarball and a patch, you
can get this error when building x86_64 or usermode Linux (and probably
others):
include/linux/irqnr.h:4:30: fatal error: uapi/linux/irqnr.h: No such file or directory

Add an exported function omap_vrfb_supported() which returns true if the
vrfb driver has been loaded succesfully. This can be used to decide if
VRFB can be used or not.

It seems I accidentally switched the guard on linux/elf-fdpic.h from #ifdef
__KERNEL__ to #ifndef __KERNEL__ when attempting to expand the guarded region
to cover the elf_fdpic_params struct when doing the UAPI split - with the
result that the struct became unavailable to kernel code.
Move incorrectly guarded bits back to the kernelspace header.
Whilst we're at it, the __KERNEL__ guards can be deleted as they're no longer
necessary.

Add new enum, omapdss_version, that is used to tell which DSS hardware
version the SoC has. This enum is initialized during platform init, and
passed in the platform data to omapdss driver.
Note that the versions are not "continuous", that is, you cannot check
if the version is less or greater than something, but you need to check
for exact version match. In other words, this is invalid:
/* test if DSS is 3630 or earlier */
if (ver <= OMAPDSS_VER_OMAP3630)

This is needed for the ARM common zImage support.
We can use the existing slot features to pass omap1
specific options to the driver. For omap2 we don't
want to pass anything new as that will be eventually
moved to use device tree based init.
Note that this patch depends on earlier patch that
moves plat/mmc.h into include/linux/platform_data.

Update helper function that provides gpmc-nand register
details for nand driver with bch register information.
Using this nand driver can be made self sufficient to
handle remaining gpmc-nand operations by itself instead
of relying on gpmc exported nand functions.

platform data, remove it. New local header has been
created for exposing functions.
